Color Party - Shetland Roving #1
Color Party - Shetland Roving #1
This roving is the result of a study in natural dyes. When my friend of Get Bentz Farm bought a wool mill we decided to play with colors. I naturally dyed a Shetland fleece using various natural dyes, from indigo to madder root, to marigolds. We wanted to experiment and learn how the mill would process different colors based on their placement through the wool carder. Thus, this collection of beautifully dyed roving was born. Each listing features a unique color combination depending on how we fed the colors into the carder.
Shetland is a heritage sheep breed listed as Recovering on the Livestock Conservancy. The wool for this roving was locally sourced in Central Minnesota from a shepherd who uses sustainable practices.
